Backend Operations Engineer

Veridise is seeking a skilled engineer who will be responsible for the operations of our SaaS services. This individual will work closely with Veridise engineers to help deliver our security analysis tools via our SaaS platform for public consumption.

Applicants should have a strong background in cloud-based computing, including AWS, Linux and Docker, and preferably Kubernetes.

Responsibilities
  • Managing infrastructure – VMs and Kubernetes clusters
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Managing deployments of services (e.g., Identity Management, Logging, Tracing, DB)
  • Assisting developer teams with containerization
  • Performing load tests to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks.
  • Learning and enforcing best practices to ensure the privacy and security of our client’s data.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of professional experience working on operations, or on backend services development and deployment.
  • Understanding of the linux kernel and system-level programming (processes, pipes, shell scripting, TCP/IP operation)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Docker.
  • Knowledgable in the HTTP protocol operation
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and understand the tradeoffs between different technology choices.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git and ticketing systems such as JIRA.
  • Written and spoken communication skills in English for a professional environment.
Optional Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes is a strong plus.
  • Configuration of HTTP servers, such as Apache or NGINX.
  • Understanding of modern authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and OIDC.
  • Understanding of the micro-services architecture.
  • Python scripting
  • Experience in Infrastructure-as-Code languages such as Terraform is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of web security is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems is a plus.
  • Strong skills in system design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL, preferably for Postgres.
